Open all year round, Kilkenny Castle is largely a Victorian remodelling of the 13th Century defensive castle, furnished with incredible family paintings, tapestries and objects d’art. While here, you can choose to explore the ancestral home of the Butler family with either a self-guided visit or a guided tour. The visit of the Castle includes the dining room, Victorian nursery and the picture gallery, with its hand painted hammer beam roof. Other features of this world-famous castle include over 50 acres of sprawling parkland filled with mature trees, a formal terraced rose garden, woodlands and a man-made lake. With lots to see, do and enjoy, the castle park and gardens also include a magnificent tea-room for you, an adventure playground for the kids and several orienteering trails for everyone to enjoy.
